4 Miniatures, Op. 62
Written in 2024
Inspired by a memorable concert at the Musikverein on 12 February 2024 featuring Daniil Trifonov and Gautier Capuçon, Jaďuďová’s 4 Miniatures are a set of concise, contrasting character pieces. The artistic intensity of that evening found its way especially into the first and third movements (Fugue and Elegia), while the second and fourth (Balkan 1 and Balkan 2) reflect the rhythmic vitality and melodic colour of Balkan folk music—linking to the composer’s own heritage.
Originally conceived for four violas, the work was later reimagined for mixed ensemble, expanding the harmonic spectrum and timbral contrasts while retaining the intimate proportions and vivid personalities of the original.
