2 BALKAN DANCES

for wind ensemble

Op. 62a

2024 (arr. 2025)

Programme notes:

Tereza Jaďuďová (b. 2001)
2 Balkan Dances, Op. 62a
Arranged in 2025

These 2 Balkan Dances are drawn from the second and fourth movements of Jaďuďová’s 4 Miniatures, Op. 62 and were inspired by the composer’s family roots in the Balkans—music of strong rhythmic drive, asymmetrical metres, and earthy melodic inflections.

In this arrangement for wind ensemble, the dances gain a fresh palette of timbres: bright woodwinds and resonant brass amplify the rhythmic vitality, while percussion underlines the folk-inspired energy. The result is a spirited homage to Balkan traditions, reframed through the colours of a modern wind ensemble.
