4 Miniatures for 4 Violas
Written in 2024
The 4 Miniatures for 4 Violas were inspired by an unforgettable concert at the Musikverein in February 2024, featuring Daniil Trifonov and Gautier Capuçon. The artistic and emotional impact of that performance became the spark for the first and third miniatures (Fugue and Elegia), while the second and fourth pieces draw on the vibrant rhythms and colours of the Balkans—a nod to the composer’s own heritage, as her great-grandfather came from the region.
I. Fugue
II. Balkan 1
III. Elegia
IV. Balkan 2
The Miniatures were later reworked for ensemble, expanding their palette while preserving vibrant interplay of the original scoring.
