3 Romances, Op. 48
Written in 2020

The 3 Romances set three poems by Boris Pasternak for voice and piano, continuing Jaďuďová’s exploration of Russian poetry in intimate chamber settings. Each song reflects the natural rhythm of the text, balancing lyrical vocal writing with subtle piano colour.

No. 1 – Любить иных — тяжелый крест…
Marked Moderato, the opening romance unfolds with restrained lyricism. The vocal line moves in even, arching phrases, supported by a gentle, transparent accompaniment that mirrors the poem’s tone of quiet reflection.

No. 2 – Не плачь, не морщь опухших губ…
In Lento ma non troppo, the second romance takes on a more consoling voice. Smooth melodic contours in the voice are offset by a steady, understated piano part, allowing the poem’s intimate reassurance to come forward.

No. 3 – Ветер
The final romance, Andante moderato, shifts toward imagery of movement and nature. The piano’s flowing lines and delicate harmonic shading evoke the wind of the title, while the voice delivers the text with a sense of wistful observation.
