2 Walzers, Op. 59
Written in 2021-2022

The 2 Walzers of Op. 59 are orchestral dances in the grand tradition, combining the elegance of the Viennese waltz with the composer’s characteristic lyricism and colour. Scored for full orchestra, the two waltzes share an affectionate dedication and a sense of personal celebration, hinted at in the subtitle “For the health of your daughter.”

No. 1
The first waltz opens with grace and poise, its smooth melodic lines unfolding over buoyant triple meter. Alternating between expansive tutti and more delicate passages, it balances festive brilliance with moments of warmth and intimacy.

No. 2
The second waltz is more spirited, with sharper rhythmic accents and playful orchestral textures. It retains lyrical episodes but builds to more vigorous climaxes before relaxing into a gentle close.
