2 Nostalgies, Op. 8
Written in 2013

Dedicated to her grandmother, Tereza Jaďuďová’s 2 Nostalgies are a heartfelt musical gift—crafted not just as a birthday present, but as a personal expression of love, memory, and reverence. As the composer puts it, “They are true gems… I hope they are worthy of you.”

The music of Op. 8 reveals a composer deepening her expressive vocabulary. Drawing from Romantic idioms while adding her own emotional signature, Jaďuďová’s nostalgic works are graceful, flowing, and filled with quiet strength.

No. 1
Marked Andante, the first Nostalgie unfolds like a private reminiscence. Its delicate, flowing lines and gentle shifts of harmony suggest moments remembered with tenderness and a trace of melancholy. The interplay between calmness and inner tension gives the piece a depth that goes beyond sentimentality—this is nostalgia tinged with truth.

No. 2
In Allegretto sostenuto, the second piece contrasts subtle rhythmic energy with an underlying emotional stillness. Layers of repetition create a trance-like quality, as if looping through fragments of memory. The music seems to wander—sometimes hesitating, sometimes pressing forward—ultimately portraying nostalgia as both a comfort and a quiet ache.
